Our Pupil Councils

School Council

At Ravensthorpe CE (VC) Junior School we believe that our pupils should have a voice and actively work to change the world around them for the better. Our school council help us lead the school forward, making it the best school it can be.

The School Council meets weekly with Mrs Ali and makes important decisions about key issues in the school. It also has a heavy involvement in organising school fundraising events to help benefit others. You can learn more about our fundraising by clicking on the tab on the left-hand side.

The council is made up of one representative from each class; pupils are elected by their peers based on their pledge towards school improvement.

The children are responsible for gathering the views of their peers as well as suggesting brilliant ideas of their own - and helping them come to fruition.

The student council is involved in organising extra-curricular activities; they allow the school to be exposed to external matters outside the classroom; they plan and deliver assemblies to the whole school; they implement new strategies and are outstanding role models for the school.

Only recently, our School Council has created and organised several initiatives. These include organising some free recycling bins; they also conducted an assembly to encourage everyone to recycle and are responsible for collecting and emptying the bins weekly. They take a lead on healthy eating, distributing fruit at breaktimes, and also organise special events such as fundraisers and celebrations.

Eco Council

At Ravensthorpe CE (VC) Junior School, we believe in improving our environment and working towards being a greener, more sustainable school. New this year, we have created our Eco Council which will work towards combatting the ongoing environmental issues surrounding our local area and even the world we live in!

As a school, we will hold regular meetings throughout the year to discuss environmental issues within school and the community. We will also look at global issues (and the positive impact we could have).

We believe that our pupils should have a voice, moving the school forward to become more 'green'. The council will have a heavy involvement in organising school fundraising events to help benefit everyone.

The Eco Council is made up of one representative from each class; they will pledge to moving us towards improving our environment. These children are then responsible for completing an environmental review from which we will begin our journey as Eco Leaders.

Wellbeing Council

At Ravensthorpe CE (VC) Junior School we believe that our pupils should learn about mental health and wellbeing to help us lead the school forward, making it the best school it can be. Our Wellbeing Council do just that!

The Wellbeing Council meets regularly with Miss Armitage and makes important decisions about key wellbeing issues in the school.

The Wellbeing Council is made up of several representatives from each class; pupils were chosen by the Deputy Headteacher based on their dedication towards supporting others.

The children are responsible for gathering the views of their peers as well as suggesting brilliant ideas of their own.

The Wellbeing council play an important role in promoting peer wellbeing within their school communities. By implementing a mentoring programme such as Wellbeing Champions, Wellbeing council members can help create a culture of care and support among their peers.
