At Ravensthorpe CE (VC) Junior School, we believe that the learning of a language provides a valued educational and cultural experience for our pupils. As the majority of our children are bilingual, learning another language is something they relish. All pupils in KS2 access quality first teaching of French to prepare them for their future language learning in KS3. As a school, we feel that learning another language gives children a fresh and broader perspective on the world, inspiring them to understand their own cultures and those of others. By following the scheme Language Angels, the children at Ravensthorpe CE (VC) Junior School receive the three stages of Language learning: Early language learning, Intermediate language learning and Progressive language learning. This ensures that lessons build on prior knowledge and progression is evident from Year 3 to 6.
