Year 4 have had a fantastic time completing their ‘Playlist’ topic! The children became mini-musicians as they discovered a range of exciting musical instruments during a special demonstration from Miss Alderson. They loved learning about how each instrument works and produces sound as well as listening to the different effects created by the piano, violin, cello, trombone, flute, tuba and clarinet. Some instruments were loud and powerful, while others were soft and gentle, and the children enjoyed comparing them all. The tuba certainly became an interesting experience - its enormous, booming sound was so loud that it made everyone jump and filled the hall with laughter!

To make the topic even more memorable, we were thrilled to welcome the talented Mirfield Free Grammar Year 9 Rock Band into school for a live performance. The children were captivated by the music and loved seeing the instruments being played together as a band. Many pupils were inspired to think about learning an instrument themselves in the future. It has been a wonderful topic full of music, creativity and excitement, helping the children develop a greater appreciation and enjoyment of the performing arts.
